If I remember correctly it's Robert Duvall, Blythe Danner, Michael O'keefe and a couple other notable faces.

It addresses the stress and dysfunction of being an army family as well as social issues.

Duvall is a Lifelong Army guy and his family gets uprooted and moves to a new town, his son gets involved in some trouble with racist locals for standing up to the town bully. Dad wants son to stay out of it tries to run his family like an army unit but he defies dad to stand up for what is right.
