It will not transfer state to state as an ID.
It basically getting a card that complies with anti-counterfeiting tech recognized federally.
Obtaining documents to establish name changes can be very difficult if the person has moved to different states. Each state and county has different processes to obtain them.
Add in a clerks bias, add in age of person ...
There are many hurdles roadblocks and more depending on the state and person.
Add in things like the SAVE act later and it compounds the difficulty further.
I'm not saying it's impossible to get one. It's not a one and done stop and shop for many and especially difficult for women.
A few states have Enhanced ID. It's like a mini passport and state DL id and REAL ID but still non transferable. I have one. But as I previously mentioned it's actually easier to obtain a passport just more expensive. I have one of those too.
A Jack of all trades is master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.![]()
