Of course there were those even back then who wanted to escape religious or state tyranny only to establish their own brand of religious, state or slave tyranny while declaring their own ‘states rights’. Funny how that works. Kinda like some who want small government until they are the ones who are faced with a disaster or need help.

So now we should just abandon freedom, democracy and individual rights and liberty altogether in deference to those who claim to know what “God” wants. One nation, under the orange God, with no liberty or justice for anyone…
