They were having a sleepover there so their parents could enjoy an "only them" anniversary. They asked about the teams to decide who to cheer for. Gigi said Canada and the United States.

Both wee lasses chose to cheer for Canada. LOL

Later on when asked why, they both said they wouldn't cheer for trump's team. Gigi was understandably confused, so Evs piped up "The United States of America"? You know, trump is president of the United States Of America... See? It's his team.

Needless to say, she told them that they also live in the U.S. and that who the president is has nothing to do with owning any team. That ALL Americans "own" our Olympic team and that they could cheer for either team regardless of who is POTUS.

I guess maybe they listen to us grownups grouse about trump a bit too often. Still, as young as they are, it's never too early to learn about civics and eventually being responsible, informed voters, etc. Just not SO intensely going forward.

In any case, they liked the game and want to see more... probably with their Gigi & Papa or with Auntie K because Mom & Dad and Grammy & Grampy don't watch sports, especially hockey.
