has always had problems with economic and discrimination issues, with a long history of a lack of the means to come up and out of that. Sure, there are some who have done quite well, but the numbers are not on their side.
I know a black family who have done quite well and live in an affluent neighborhood. Their kids go to a good school and are quite talented. But... they still have to deal with discrimination issues, simply because of the color of their skin. They took us to church with them once when we visited them (in Philadelphia). It was basically an all black church, so they obviously feel like they need that support in their community that they would not get elsewhere. Some might look at that as them being racist themselves, but I know that is not the case.
