One ran directly into my husband's car on our road a couple of years ago. Totaled his car but he wasn't hurt.

That drowned boy was his parent's only child. His mother is still messed up because of it. His best friend had revived him at the scene. He was a junior paramedic who happened to see the headlights in the swamp and pulled over. He didnt recognize him! Sadly, neither did his own mother when he was brought in. She was the ER nurse assigned to him. He was so brain damaged that he didn't make it. I was doing psych evals for the ER at the time so wound up talking to her that night. She was so demolished by his death but also because she didnt recognize her own son until after it was determined that he could not possibly be taken off life support EVER because there was virtually nothing left and zero hope.

I can't even imagine the true depth of her grief and added pain of not even recognizing him. She recognized his date and freaked out realizing who the dead boy actually was.

I never want to EVER see such human pain ever again. I left the ER psych unit that same week and transferred into the outpatient psych office so I never had to again.
