Valued Poster I guess if a kid is somehow prone to be emotionally attacked by a computer character chatbot, and take it to heart, you can say the purveyors of such a product are culpable. It seems to me, with the case not being dismissed, there will be plenty of groundwork laid out by both sides to start making some progress in this scenario. There are likely to be more of a similar nature. Particularly if this one is successful. My main point in posting this was to show what a Pandora's box this AI stuff could turn into.

I know that there are benefits in some businesses for AI, but the potential for misuse and abuse are astronomical

It's difficult to say where accountability begins in situations like this. I remember a case in the 80's when Ozzy Osbourne was sued by parents who's son died by suicide allegedly induced by a song named 'Suicide Solution' that he played on repeat. (I think the kid used it as his final note not motivation.) Was Ozzy really instigating teenage suicide? Was John Lennon Demonic for saying the Beatles were more popular than Jesus?
