Anyone here have any thoughts on Freshman Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego? Posted by TW on May 29, 2025, 5:12 pm Valued Poster There is some small talk about him being a potential contender as the Democrat nominee for POTUS. It's still a long way off, but he could move into a good position should he continue to look good for the next 2-3 years.

ADMIN I'm nowhere near thinking he SHOULD be the Dem nominee though. I've haven't heard enough about him to bring him there. That said, I DO want to see new blood running in 2028. New as in not ancient and laden down with baggage. But experienced and talented in areas that would propel him/her forward on merit, not expectation.

The Democrat party has no leadership now, and those that are already well-known in the party are not popular with the vast majority of the party or the swing voters, as they have picked up too much negative baggage in the last 6–8 years. I think the Democrats need to find a fresh face. Someone that's not too old. Someone that appears to be intelligent and energetic. Not only that, but someone with little negative baggage. If they are going to make progress with the swing voters, they need someone that fits that bill. IMHO.

The same types of solutions would also apply to the GOP. Right now, the Democrats are in total disarray, with no particular individual looking like they are in any situation to step in and lead. The Republicans might very well find themselves in the same situation around the end of Trump's term.

Valued Poster Dems actually have lots of younger leadership; names like Elizabeth Warren, Tim Walz, Sherrod Brown, Gretchen Whitmer, Beto O'Rourke, and Gavin Newsom come to mind off the top of my head. You have a slowly dying Trump, and young 'leaders' like Rubio (maybe your best hope), Hawley, Tuberville (ok, he's not young), Haley, Vance, Noem, and other similarly awful, mostly Trump-linked candidates. I'd run Rubio and Haley, FWIW. A drift back toward rationality and bipartisanship wouldn't hurt. Bring Mitt back into the Party. -greenman

She is more than able! Some deteriorate quickly while others can go on for another 1 or 2 decades without pause. You just can't necessarily know who will be able to do that. Reagan proved that in his day and now Biden and dt are proving that to be accurate as well. I don't care who you are or how healthy, advanced age is not for sissies and the presidency is certainly not a good situation for anyone who would be expected to perform at peak condition 24/7/365 in unexpected emergencies. I've seen no signs of her slowing down mentally or even physically at this point. But the next POTUS run will be in 2028 when she will be 79! Sherrod Brown does seem to be a good suggestion IMHO though!

Trump is just the nixonesque leader elevated by his own ego and petard to implement the desires of the Stephen F Millers, Scott Bessents, Marjorie Taylor Greenes, "Wheels" Abbotts, Ken Paxtons, closeted Gay Lindsey Grahams, coach Tommy Tubbervilles and other mental moron midgets not content to let anyone else live a life of peace different from their beliefs. They seek positions of power so they can control what others do. They give it to God, worship and honor God only when convenient to them, and they have no answer about legislation and policy they support that harms people, like the mass defunding and reduction of force in government where the strength of democracy is massed for the common protection of people from health, food, and safety risks as result of unscrupulous people cutting corners to increase their own wealth at expense of the general public. They whine about the debt. But when revenue is adequate to pay the debt, why whine? They want lower taxes, which creates a gap between revenue and debt called the deficit, which is a much more serious matter because those people either aren't paid, or are paid late, whenever Congress gets around to it. These tax cuts always favor the top 1%. It is as irrational and false as anything can be, and they say their lives depend on it. This generation of largely nixonesque people must pass away in sufficient numbers for Gen X Z and Millenials to have a chance to elect, address, and correct the many false wrongs dear to the Felon and what he is and represents. It takes a special kind of ignorance and stupidity to elect a convicted felon into power and leadership, and expect anything except more crime. Anerica's having done that lost our credibility, trust, and standing in the world. Maybe for good. There is no MAGA. A world with real values, other than money and success. Of course America's long been like that, but at least its leaders took their jobs seriously. Trumpism is the clown car of politics, a cheap, vulgar gang of conmen and creeps. Even Nixon wasn't like this. Even Reagan. They acted seriously, and sometimes did something right. Bipartisanship existed, and worked at times. Now? Thanks in no small part to the internet, one side can whip up absolute HATRED of the other side, dirty their candidates, attack their families..it's like the the Andrew Jackson/Martin van Buren election times ten and splashed onto mass communications.
