I expect there will be more. Kinda surprised that one was here, or rather there in the People's Republic of Boulder, prolly the most liberal part of the State. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
Attacking older and elderly people with a flame thrower is so unexpected
Since he is facing 2 potential murder charges, according to police, it appears that at least two of the victims have or soon will die from their injuries. Apparently, two quite elderly women were the most significantly burned.
The victims were from 52 to 88 years old. WTF?
Insane acts smear the name of truly defensible causes.
totally smears those, like me, who support HELPING the Palestinians and oppose what Israel is doing to them.
Of course, I also oppose what Hamas did to them in Oct 2023 !! The Israeli hostages are also innocent victims who don't deserve what has happened to them.
Both sides do very wrong things to each other. This is just one more of them.
At least the gun laws prevented him from buying an AR15 that he was trying to buy. MORE would be injured and many would likely be DEAD if he had gotten one.
Everyone seems to ignore this most salient fact in the article:
One of the core tenets of Hamas and every other virulently antisemitic terrorist group is that there is no such thing as an innocent civilian, that every Jew everywhere in the world is a legitimate target. We’re seeing that same worldview at work on our own soil. These people don’t hate Israel; they just hate Jews and don’t want to admit it.
This has been conclusively demonstrated time and again throughout history. Yet, people still decide to give these death cult lovers, that believe hate to be the highest of human virtues, a pass. Tell me, would you like a next door neighbor that had these death cultish beliefs, living right next door to you? That their kids, steeped in hatred shortly after birth, went to school with your kids?
If all the Jews were suddenly wiped off the face of the earth, these death cultists would undoubtedly find another block of humanity to hate with equal fervor. It's packaged in their core beliefs. That new block of humanity that they would hate with the same passion they hate the Jews, would most likely be whatever Western nation that they deemed to be the Great Satan of the day. Even their neighboring nations have always been eligible for some measure of their hate. Which they seem to have in endless supply of.
How can you give an ounce of sympathy to people that would be just as hellbent on destroying you in the most heinous way they could fabricate, if they weren't busy applying the vast majority of their hatred towards Jews? Remember 9/11? That's just a sample of what they'd like to do to us and people like us.
Hamas sold the Palestinian people a false bill of goods
In peace negotiations Hamas is seeking guarantees that the temporary ceasefire will lead to negotiations for a permanent end to the war and a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
Israel seems to be holding out for a temporary one. They also insist on the complete disarmament of Palestine, which of course would leave it vulnerable to their attacks since, well, the treaty was temporary.
Hamas seeks humanitarian aid; Israel is blocking much of it.
I do not like or support the Hamas attacks, but right now Israel is looking pretty shady
..Zionist Israel has been the enemy since 1948. They have ALWAYS wanted ALL Palestinian lands. Since day one, and before.-greenman
Israel banks on belief they've a God given right to it

Whether or not they really believe that, and I have grave doubts, they act on it. Imo they have no more belief than trump has, and are using religion to get their way. Who can oppose God? Who dares oppose God.
Trump is no more an evangelical than I am a beauty queen. Bibi? He's about as God fearing as trump.
So what happens if belief in God is finally exposed as a lie perpetrated on people since day one? Could happen this time with communications as they are. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
You're religious, fine. Be religious. But don't use religion for your political aims.
I know, it's an old story..:-greenman

Politics seeks to control populations. So does religion. Mosaic Code and Hammurabi were essentially the first civilized law. Mosaic Code is the Torah. Hammurabi is the Qran. Essence and flavors of both permeate US Code and Constitution.
I object to use of it to divide people, support partisan agendas, especially in hands of criminal leaders like trump and netanyahu. They do it for wealth and power, and somebody else innocent pays dearly. I can't control them, nor do I want to. I can and do control me. Trump can never touch me regardless what he does. I simply won't let him.
People will never agree on this because ego gets in the way. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
I would tend to say

That Hammurabi's Code was Hammurabi's, and while the Gods may have been mentioned, it was largely a civil code. It most certainly was not the Qu'ran, which came out of Mosaic Law. Judaism - Christianity - Islam was a pretty clear progression, three Abramaic monotheistic religion and yet absolutely intolerant of one another (and that's WORSE now than 500 years ago!).
Pagans were easy about Gods, you went to their city you took your Gods along, but probably paid a visit to a temple of THEIR Gods because you were in their city or country. Just to show you were cool with them. -greenman
I looked at them from geographical location, chronology and establishment of fertile crescent

Mosaic law added God to the mix. Christianity added their cents. Qran added more. All intended to give their "leadership" more power. Addition of God occurs where reasonable and rational argument breaks down. Leadership fell and falls back on God because of the threat and fear, who can opposa God. The proposal isn't God's will, but theirs.
When you have stupid leadership, inevitably "God" become their tool because they are incapable of a reasonable and rational argument of and for the will they intend to impose.
Trump's embrace of God is because he's the stupidest leader to rise to power in a long time.
He laughed about D Day with German Chancellor Merz, saying, "It didn't work out too well for you, did it!" Merz replied it did because Germany was just as desperate to get out of the clutched of Hitler and the Nazi party.
Religion's use as a tool to control how people behave is imo abuse of it.
I believe there is something out there much greater than me. There is something deep in the microscopic me much greater than me too, and in my view it is the same thing. Each of us has that, and asks those questions. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
And politicians stoke a lot of it, because that is what gives them their power, uniting their ‘side’ against another side, going to war against the bad guys, and then reaping the spoils. And, unfortunately, religion is often used to divide and stoke hatred as well. But then religion and politics are very much related. You have to have ‘faith’ in what the leaders are telling you, and who or what the enemy is and whom you need to hate. Just don’t question the leaders, who speak for god or as an authority.
Israel is just as bad though. They want every single Palestinian to be wiped or driven OUT. They are every ounce as merciless as Hamas.
In the Israel/Hamas wars, there are NO GOOD GUYS in power. Not anymore. They are only innocent civilians on both sides who are being mercilessly murdered a/o sacrificed.
The story of the Jews in Arab lands still forms a major gap in most of the world's knowledge of the history of the Middle East and North Africa. Jewish presence in what are now Arab lands long predates Islam and the Arab conquest of the Middle East and North Africa, and goes back to Biblical times. In 1945, there were approximately 866,000 Jews living in communities throughout the Arab world. Today, there are fewer than 10,000. In many Arab states, once thriving Jewish communities have all but disappeared. According to official statistics, 856,000 Jews, persecuted and under duress, were exiled from their homes in Arab countries between 1948 and the early 1970s, leaving behind substantial property and other assets.
According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, the Israeli Arab population stood at 2.1 million people in 2023, accounting for 21% of Israel's total population. The majority of these Arab citizens identify themselves as Arab or Palestinian by nationality and as Israeli by citizenship.
I won't argue about the complete accuracy of the numbers, but percentage wise, it isn't even close. That's because Jews would not survive very well in Arab countries. These days, they are being killed and persecuted here.
We had an incident today. Somebody spread a chemical around a major intersection that would ignite the street on fire, and then ignited it. Bystanders apprehended the fool before he could escape. Nobody was injured, but the intersection was closed while the fire was put out. He's in a hospital for mental evaluation. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
Israel, a country, not a race, ethnicity, or a chose people of God, run by bad and deceptive leadership, perpetually and methodically stole from the Palestinian people, and murdered them in cold blood, for land and things they covet and want. Israel gets our American blessing because too many of us see it as the Chosen people of God.
This belief about Israel by Americans in America is supported and proliferated by a profession that rivals used car salesmen in trustworthiness; the evangelical ministry. Many televangelists were used car salesmen before they discovered the cash cow of televangelical ministry.
Oral and Anal Roberts, Jim and Tammy Bakker, Kenneth Copeland, Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggart, Joel Osteen, Robert Schuler, Paula White, Jerry Falwell and his disgraced son Big Dick... the list is long. They influence countless millions.
Just as the Boulder firebomber hid behind religion to commit atrocities, Israeli and American leadership do exactly the same, and we're saying unequivicably here, we support and condone NONE of it.
You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
If Arabs hate Jews it's because of Israel and the Palestinians. Period. They lived peaceably with Jews for centuries (although like all non-Muslims, Jews had to pay a tax), including in Moorish Spain, where it was the CHRISTIANS who later drove the Jews out.
Jews are not 'entitled to Israel' any more than descendents of the Hittites are 'entitled to half of Turkey.' That's superstitious nonsense that Zionist Jews - and some Christians - believe in.
I decry this crime, but the reasons for it are obvious. And as with 9/11, by aiding Israel we risk bringing it over here.-greenman
Attack was a poorly thought idea. One Holocaust survivor was injured
People I know are outraged, saddened, and both. I am too. This stupid act helped NOTHING. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
Some might object to that as a dehumanizing term for the perpetrator of Sunday’s act of terror. But what other word so accurately describes a man who shows up to a march of Americans — marching to call on Hamas to release the remaining hostages — and who starts hurling Molotov cocktails to burn them to death? How else to label someone who looks at a crowd of senior citizens and concludes, “They must burn”?
How do you survive the Holocaust and live to see old age, only to have some monster try to incinerate you a second time — this time on the streets of the United States? An attempt to incinerate you a second time for being a Jew, right here in America?
You have probably noticed a recurring pattern here.
Less than two months ago, a man attempted to burn down the governor’s mansion in Harrisburg, Pa. The Dauphin County district attorney’s office released audio of the indicted arsonist calling 911 and declaring, “Governor Josh Shapiro needs to know that Cody Balmer will not take part in his plans for what he wants to do to the Palestinian people.” As governor of Pennsylvania, Shapiro has no formal role in U.S. foreign policy. He has standard pro-Israel views.
The criminal complaint against Balmer notes:
Prior to interviewing BALMER, he was advised of Miranda Warnings. BALMER advised that he understood his rights and agreed to speak with Troopers. During this interview, BALMER admitted to harboring hatred towards Governor SHAPIRO. . . . BALMER also advised that prior to committing these acts, he was aware his actions would result in negative consequences. When asked if he was aware that Governor SHAPIRO and others were home at the time of this act, BALMER advised that he was aware this was a possibility. BALMER also admitted that he knew it was a possibility people could be injured by his actions. BALMER was asked specifically what he would have done if Governor SHAPIRO found him inside of his residence to which he advised he would have beaten him with his hammer.
(Speaking of hateful nutjobs who want to beat political figures with a hammer, do you feel like you’ve heard a lot more about the guy who attacked Paul Pelosi than this guy?)
The search warrant for Balmer’s residence declared police were looking for “any and all cell phones, laptops, tablets, or any electronic device that could store or transmit data. Any writings or notes that contain any of the following: the name of Josh Shapiro; reference to Palestine, Gaza, Israel or the current conflict in Gaza.”
It was just a week and a half ago that an ideologue consumed by hate gunned down Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim in cold blood as they left the Young Diplomats Reception of the American Jewish Committee in Washington, D.C.
From the criminal complaint against Elias Rodriguez:
RODRIGUEZ spontaneously stated on scene to MPD, “I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza, I am unarmed.” RODRIGUEZ was holding a red scarf identified by one witness as a “Kaffiyeh.” As MPD officers were escorting RODRIQUEZ from the Museum, he shouted “Free Palestine.”
RODRIGUEZ is captured on the video extending both his arms in the direction of the decedents and firing several times, as indicated by the muzzle flashes. Once the decedents fell to the ground, RODRIGUEZ is captured on the video advancing closer to the decedents, leaning over with them with his arm extended, and firing several more times. As Decedent-1 attempted to crawl away from RODRIGUEZ, he followed behind her and fired again. After a brief moment, RODRIGUEZ appeared to reload his firearm. At the same time, Decedent-1 sat up. Once he reloaded, RODRIGUEZ fired several times at Decedent-1.
And now yesterday’s horror, where yet another “anti-Zionist” activist for Palestine decided that a bunch of Jews had to die for the outrageous provocation of marching in support of hostages, who have now been held for 603 days.
The ugly truth is that Hamas’s war against the Jews has come to America. Sure, the perpetrators of these attacks may not have Hamas membership cards, but their worldview, agenda, and increasingly, their methods are indistinguishable from that of the terrorist group.
And this is why no one believes, or should believe, anyone who says, “I’m not antisemitic, I’m just anti-Zionist.”
You may say you’re anti-Zionist, but your political allies keep trying to kill random Jews. They also keep tearing down public menorahs, making threats to Hillels on college campuses, spray-painting hateful messages on synagogues. This crowd insists it is only objecting to the policies of the Israeli government and, entirely coincidentally, that rage just keeps accidentally hitting random American Jews.
The governor’s mansion is not an IDF base. A young couple are not IDF soldiers. A parade of elderly Americans calling for the hostages to be released is not an IDF commando unit.
On May 27, the “DSA Liberation Caucus” — a self-described “Marxist-Leninist-Maoist caucus” within the Democratic Socialists of America — declared, “Free Elias Rodriguez and all political prisoners.”
Remember, Rodriguez shot and executed Milgrim as she attempted to crawl away. But in the minds of these people, he’s a “political prisoner.” You see, murder is part of their political agenda.
Some of those monsters are illegal immigrants. Not all are looking to find work and a better way of life. They are looking for easy pickings in which to commit their heinous crimes.
I wholeheartedly OPPOSE Israel, the COUNTRY's Zionist behavior towards all of its neighbors.
I also wholeheartedly SUPPORT the right of Jews to exist, live, and thrive wherever they may land, but DO NOT SUPPORT Israel's attempts to TAKE LAND from others or their constant intent to KILL the people who already live there.
Israel has behaved SO BADLY for so many decades that the hatred of their neighbors against them has become well deserved. They continue to behave abominably towards the Palestinians, apparently believing that self-protection includes the "right" to kill everyone in their way.
YES, Hamas is a monstrous group of terrorists who wreak havoc on Israel but innocent Palestinians should not be murdered without the slightest concern for them. The ends do NOT justify the means.
of olive trees is a very significant symbol IMO. Burning down peace...
Cutting off medical supplies, stiffling clean water and food... they are trying to commit genocide plain and simple.
Why do they need to be so damn greedy. Leave the land alone. Leave the innocents alone. Sit down and bang out a FAIR peace treaty ... then I will consider respecting Israel leadership again.
