December 22 update on my Mum Posted by Jaimelynn on December 22, 2025, 6:52 am Mum has come through A LOT so far and is holding her own. She is off of all life support machines -- She is breathing without assistance and her heart is beating on its own. She has regained control over most of her left side again but still has major weaknesses in the strength of both legs, especially her left. The DVT in her left calf continues to cause trouble there. However, her pain levels have skyrocketed and docs are unable to get and stay ahead of it to keep it more bearable. She is very heavily medicated so gets mixed up a lot. She may pop in to read or post soon. Don't expect a lot, trying to coordinate her fingers to type is very difficult on the phone screen and she tires quickly. Thank you all for your kind words We read them to her when we see them. My best to you !

I know her Family does their utmost to help where they can providing a shared strength for all. Your Mum is definitely loved. I did a lot of grandpa daycare for my grandsons but I was also much younger. (-19 and -14) I still have a 3+ granddaughter that loves to spend time with her grandparents. (a recently restored relationship I cherish) I also did a lot for my grandparents because of the time I got with them. (even in its dysfunction I'm grateful because it was the best they could too) I hope I have that if needed. Grandchildren have an abundance of energy that can lift all spirits present. Diagnoses, it is the most difficult part of medicine, partly because so many things can have similar symptoms and medicines can react differently in different people. Then there is the difficulty of getting information in a timely manner that the patient can understand. ChristopherBlackwell

Hard to get the exercise and therapy she needs with the threat of it traveling up to her heart or lungs?? And yet I'm guessing she needs some therapy or exercise to keep clots from forming? Baby steps... I hope she has some nice Christmas music or something to listen to. Please give her my best. Hugs...
