He is Seriously, Frighteningly, Utterly, and Completely Losing His Mind. We are in great danger
by Robert Reich - Apr 16
Friends,
It’s a catastrophe on the way to becoming a cataclysm.
Trump is rapidly going stark-raving mad. He’s a clear and present danger to the United States and the world.
Yesterday he lashed out at The New York Times after its chief White House correspondent questioned his mental health and stability and pointed to his “erratic behavior and extreme comments.”
“HAVE THEY NO SHAME? HAVE THEY NO SENSE OF DECENCY?” Trump posted in CAPITAL LETTERS about the Times, inadvertently echoing the famous words of Joseph Welch when standing up to Joseph McCarthy during the Army-McCarthy hearings of 1954. Trump went on to take issue with the Times’s coverage of his war in Iran rather than his mental state, as if to prove the Times’s point.
He keeps saying he’s “won” the war with Iran, although he’s never said what “winning” means. At one moment his goal is to free Iran’s people. At another, it’s to end Iran’s capacity to produce a nuclear weapon. At another, to destroy Iran’s missiles. At another, to achieve “regime change.” At another, to open the Strait of Hormuz (which was open before Trump started his war). At another, he says he’ll know the U.S. military operation in Iran is over when he feels it "[in] my bones.”
He can’t even stay on the same subject for more than a few minutes. In the middle of a high-level Cabinet meeting about the war, he spends five minutes talking about his preference for Sharpie pens. He interrupts another Iran war update to praise the White House drapes.
He threatens that if Iran doesn’t reopen the strait, “a whole civilization will die tonight.” Then he says America doesn’t need the strait reopened. Then he says: “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
He calls the Pope “WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy” because the Pope wants peace. He posts an AI-generated picture of himself as Jesus, then says he was only depicting himself as a physician.
He won’t give up on his illegal and dangerous (for the economy) criminal investigation of Fed Chief Jerome Powell, claiming it’s not just about Powell’s renovations at the Fed but also a “probe on incompetence,” adding he’ll fire Powell if he doesn’t resign after his term as chair ends.
He claims that the United States “needs” Greenland. He confuses Greenland with Iceland. He says whales are being killed by windmills. He claims that he won all 50 states in 2020. That he defeated Barack Obama in 2016. He says the former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff should be executed. He goes on an eight-minute ramble about poisonous snakes in Peru. He boasts of ending a fictional war between Cambodia and Armenia.
After Robert Mueller’s death, he says, “Good, I’m glad he’s dead.” He blames the murders of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle on “the anger [Rob Reiner] caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” After Joe Biden is diagnosed with an aggressive form of Stage 4 prostate cancer, Trump says, “I’m surprised that the public wasn’t notified a long time ago because to get to Stage 9, that’s a long time” (there is no Stage 9 cancer).
He’s been losing it for a while now, but in the last few months it’s become far worse.
In 2017, 27 psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals concluded in The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump that Trump’s mental condition posed a “clear and present danger” to the nation.
In 2021, members of Trump’s own Cabinet — horrified by the January 6, 2021, violence at the Capitol and Trump’s lack of urgency in stopping it — discussed whether to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office due to mental incompetence.
During his 2024 campaign, he attacked Kamala Harris and then went into the stratosphere of his bonkers mind:
“She destroyed the city of San Francisco, it’s – and I own a big building there – it’s no – I shouldn’t talk about this, but that’s OK, I don’t give a damn because this is what I’m doing. I should say it’s the finest city in the world – sell and get the hell out of there, right? But I can’t do that. I don’t care, you know? I lost billions of dollars, billions of dollars. You know, somebody said, ‘What do you think you lost?’ I said, ‘Probably two, three billion. That’s OK, I don’t care.’ They say, ‘You think you’d do it again?’ And that’s the least of it. Nobody. They always say, I don’t know if you know. Lincoln was horribly treated. Uh, Jefferson was pretty horribly. Andrew Jackson, they say, was the worst of all, that he was treated worse than any other president. I said, ‘Do that study again, because I think there’s nobody close to Trump.’ I even got shot! And who the hell knows where that came from, right?”
It’s no longer possible to overlook his conspiracy-obsessed paranoia, his uncontrolled rage, his emotional volatility, his delusional claims, his vengeful rantings, his foul-mouthed posturing, his increasing detachment from reality.
Yet his Cabinet members and aides keep their heads down. Republican members of Congress pretend not to notice. His billionaire supporters dare not speak of his rapid decline. The media tries to “sanewash” his growing incoherence.
But some voices on the right — people who have long been supporters of Trump — have had enough.
Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene says Trump’s threat to destroy Iran’s civilization is “not tough rhetoric, it’s insanity.” Far-right podcaster Candace Owens calls him “a genocidal lunatic.” Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones says Trump “does babble and sounds like the brain’s not doing too hot.” A White House lawyer in Trump’s first term, Ty Cobb, says Trump is “clearly insane.” Former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham says “he’s clearly not well.”
The public is catching on. Fully 61 percent of Americans think he’s become more erratic with age, while just 45 percent say he is “mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges” (down from 54 percent in 2023).
For the good of the nation and the world, it’s time we face the reality: The most powerful man in the world does not have the mental capacity to do the job. Donald Trump — who has a family history of dementia — is increasingly unhinged.
We are all endangered. What happens if, in a demented rage, he hurls a nuclear bomb? Who is watching the “football” with the nuclear codes? Who’s ready to stop him to save the world?
Don’t wait. Impeach him now.
It will only get worse, as hard as it is to believe...
It seems he has numbed us all to his insanity. It's just trump being trump, right? No. It can and has and continues to get worse and worse. And yes, people are dying and in grave danger due to his insanity, but... he has surrounded himself with cowards and fellow crazies, so who will stop him before he does something even worse and continues to bring us all down with him?
True, however even Mike Johnson criticized his Jesus meme and said to
And just because he criticized him that time doesn't mean that has changed really. Did he also criticize dt's next Jesus meme with Jesus hugging and blessing him... for 'saving' the country and the world?
Johnson fancies himself as a devoted Evangelical Christian and that "God is using trump for his purposes", so he tolerates and protects him. That's the problem with many Evangelicals. They support trump because, whatever they may think of him personally, they also believe that he will usher in the apocalypse and bring about Jesus's return.
However, trump can and quite often does "go too far" even for Johnson and other's taste and tolerance for blasphemy.
Johnson WILL abandon him for self preservation when and if it comes to that. So will Vance. Vance is a Catholic who does not appreciate the attacks on the Pope or the trumpas Jesus memes. So far, his ambition and expectation of the apocalypse trump may trigger allows him to tolerate much of the insanity and blasphemy.
However, knowing as I do the strength of true religious beliefs present, I'm pretty sure that his belief and the potential fate of his "immortal soul" being at risk will cause him to save himself if push comes to shove. NONE of them would risk their "immortal souls" for anyone, especially the likes of trump. They only do now because they believe God is using trump as an instrument to bring about the prophecy of Revelations.
You can't get through to them with appeals to reason or critical thinking because there is no reason nor critical thinking involved in having faith or true belief in anything spiritual so deeply embraced.
Belief is not volitional, it simply is. By bringing in worldly concerns or doubts, their very soul and faith is threatened. To them, seriously questioning that faith is equal to heresy and if taken beyond a random thought to actual consideration could result in a loss of said faith It becomes equal to spiritual death, something far, far worse than physical death.
They will deny, fight, and curse anything that threatens those beliefs and their faith in them. I know this from personal experience and the resulting complete loss of my own faith due to allowing myself to question my own beliefs employing critical thinking in an attempt to defend them. Once my faith had cracks in it due to the now obvious faults inherent in foundation of biblical beliefs**, my belief and faith were totally destroyed and I suffered extreme emotional destruction and guilt for allowing someone to implant doubt within me by appealing to my more dominant critical thinking. So, suffice it to say that I get WHY the "fsithful" can't allow themselves the indulgence of questioning what they unconsciously know is BS out of fear.
** The basic foundation that God HAD to create a way for sinners to be cleansed and then forgiven their sins against his commandments through Jesus' spilled blood rather than simply forgiving them himself. God KNOWINGLY created a totally ridiculous system that was absolutely going to fail because humans are inherently flawed and HE made them that wway. The entire design was a set up for failure. HE put the snake into the proverbial garden knowing his creations would fail. Then threw them out in anger to punish them for what was NOT their fault in any reasonable way. THEN punished all of their descendants for the sins of their original parents.
Once that went down, so did everything else. The God of the bible is a malignant narcissist who hasn't an ounce of love for his creations and who better resembles horrifically flawed humans more than any version of an all knowing, all loving, and fair God.
Nothing makes ANY sense once that basic premise collapses. What does make sense is that the Bible was written by ignorant men who tried to make sense of the natural world by modeling their Hod after the WORST examples of mankind. The sociopaths and psychopaths amongst them with a set of unattainable rules that all would fail.
Then making up rules and utter nonsense to keep other humans in line by convincing them that questioning ANY of it would destroy their "immortal souls" and cause them never-ending torture in the flames of hell. Great way to keep people in line without question and the chosen way of evil men throughout the ages who used beliefs that they didn't actually believe against those who did.
but it all sounds insane if you think about it in any logical way. But then it doesn’t have to make sense for believers who are just supposed to BELIEVE it, in undying hope of preserving their immortal soul and being reunited with their loved ones in the afterlife?
Humans have hoped for immortality for thousands of years in many different forms and religions. For many, maybe it is just an innate hope or desire to live on beyond the grave…but for many others, perhaps it has become more like a cult with its own set of rules and indoctrination. Doesn’t have to make sense. The more unbelievable it is, it seems the more hope, fear and coercion is built into it to keep the faithful in line or under control.
And I think that is how and why people like Trump take advantage of such believers for his own purposes. Such people have already been groomed and conditioned to believe unbelievable lies. The bigger the lie, and the more times you say it, just seems to make it more believable, especially when forced upon the masses by a bully who claims to know more than anyone else.
He called the felon's picture a joke and said it was trump being trump.
The malignant sociopathic narcissist cancer can't distinguish or discern reality from make believe. In his childlike confusion, truth is whatever he decides, and often he waffles back and forth, trying to capitalize on the explanation that makes him look best. Like doctor sub for Jesus instead of admission of a mistake and asking forgiveness.
Johnson, Vance, and all in his orbit are metasicization of the felon cancer.
You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony
..the moreso since this one is American. They don’t GET that he doesn’t serve Trump or American politics. I guess because they worship Trump, they think the Pope should, too.
You can’t serve two masters.. SAY ‘NO’ TO WAR! RESIST!
The irony of these ‘questions,’ these denunciations, suggests that something is still working dimly in his mind. He can take accusations and reverse them on their sources. This no doubt seems clever to the peasant class.
But why AREN’T people doing anything? Americans seem hypnotized by our own history, by our own government, by the notion that something will be done, the notion that someone is in charge.
I think we’ve only just recently started to realize that a loony is in charge, and other loonies aiding and abetting him. The fall elections are still most people’s source of solace, and if Trump makes the mistake of trying to hijack them, it will tip us over the brink into civil war. SAY ‘NO’ TO WAR! RESIST!
He will absolutely try to hijack them. If he fears going down, he would have no qualms or regrets in bringing down the whole country or the whole world with him if he could... and blame everyone BUT himself. Yes, he is THAT insane. He wants to be God for chrissake... er, for trumpssake!

Always make sure there is an image marker at its end like jpeg, png, svg, gif, or other image ending (Raster image formats)
One way to be sure you get one is to push down your finger on the image within a post to bring up the "right click" menu. Look for "open image in new tab" and choose that. If you are lucky you may also see "copy image location" which is ultimately what you want: the link to where that image exists on the web all by itself. Go to that tab and do it again, only looking for either "copy image location" in the drop down menu OR go to the top of the tab and manually copy the link URL of the pix. Ensure that it includes an image marker (image format) at its end.
