I'm on a crusade Posted by Trudy on May 18, 2026, 11:07 pm Valued Poster Any time I hear a man say he's against abortion, I ask why he doesn't get a vasectomy. They are reversible for 5 years -+ and there are sperm banks for backup. Make vasectomies mandatory at age 16. I watch a call in stream where many people call to say they are pro life, which is bullshit, as once babies are born they disappear from it's life. They often say if the woman didn't want to have a baby she shouldn't have sex, while the man faces no pregnancy. Their lives are not on the line. They don't have to worry about keeping their jobs, or buying maternity wear, or leaky bladder, or baby supplies, or any of the pains and inconveniences and worries. Some say the bible is their motivation, then they are excusing themselves from their own sin, but wanting women to pay for their "bad choices". Well, the bible has instructions from God for a man who suspects his wife has been unfaithful. He is to take her to the priest, who is to give her "bitter waters" made from holy water and the dust from the temple floor. If she doesn't have a miscarriage she's faithful I suppose. What a bunch of bastards- pretending to care about morality. No more letting the DNC choose our candidates for public office. They're not good at it.

They don't have that right or authority. When SCOTUS granted them that right through their so-called state legislatures, where televangelist ilk are more likely elected to represent and lead, people need to push back. If elected representation insists, then they're unfit to represent. Speaking for the baby? Bvllsh!t! If they really cared about the baby, they'd do better helping raise him through better education and access to health care. But they cut those things because they don't want to spend the money. Okay, how about a push to promote vasectomies to also prevent having a pregnancy change a young man's life and make him choose between his future and his responsibility. Unwanted pregnancies are a concern for both parties if the young man recognizes his responsibility. I would try to persuade my son to do it if he were still a teenager. No more letting the DNC choose our candidates for public office. They're not good at it.

At the very least, offer real assistance to someone whose life they feel entitled to dictate. Put their own time and money where their mouth is. What is right is to keep abortion legal and safe with reasonable restrictions to protect a fetus once it has reached a significant level where it could reasonably survive outside of the womb. That gives plenty of time for decisions to be made. Additionally to make contraception affordable or free to those who can't afford it. To make age appropriate sex education required from 6th grade on through high school so children are armed with facts. Sex education doesn't convince children to do it. It teaches them the biology, the reality, and how to protect themselves if they make the choice to do it. Kids know far too little about life and the ramifications of having sex with other kids during their youth and can easily fall prey to other kids who know more, but especially how to manipulate other ignorant but highly interested children. This is a societal problem, NOT a male vs female war. Obviously your opinion varies, but this is mine.

And in speaking to any man who opposes abortion, I will propose it every time. It does them no harm, it's a simple visit to a doctor's office and a couple of days of discomfort. Men don't mind if a pregnant woman experiences months of discomfort, and has to rearrange the rest of her life, maybe get a job and drop out of school to take care of the baby she is alone with. Only one person in the scenario risks so much. She may have always been opposed to abortion, but now is facing the reality of motherhood vs abortion. The anguish she suffers whatever she chooses is because it's her life that will change in ways she never planned for. I don't think it's asking so much for men to prevent the issue from ever arising. Which also enables both partners to enjoy each other worry free. No more letting the DNC choose our candidates for public office. They're not good at it.
