Their leadership was willing to start a nuclear war to destroy Israel and the US.

So Trump may have stopped the next Hitler but who gets to make that call? The problem with taking preemptive action is that you cannot prove what you stopped. Had GW Bush changed the rules on airline security weeks before 9-11 would he be credited with stopping a major attack or just criticized for adding complexity and cost to airline travel?
