There are very few American tradesmen anymore. Democrats have encouraged too many students to go after Gender Studies, French and Art History or similar worthless degrees saddling them with lifelong easy credit/student debt that Democrats pushed on us all leaving them with no real marketable skills.

The shortage of skilled labor has made the cost of repairs go sky high.

Congratulations on your do-it-yourself attitude. I've always done my brakes - even back in the days when a change would have cost in the $200 range. Hope you sprayed down your old rotors, pads, drums and shoes and washed your hands thoroughly afterward. The dust is still carcinogenic despite the reduction of asbestos.

Did you bleed your hydraulic lines too? Might be necessary but that's t least a 2 person job.
