Many years ago I spent an very hot Labor Day weekend awaiting the AC repairman...

...They kept saying the repairman could be available any time. We stayed home and waited. It went out on Friday while we were working and the saga started on Friday and lasted until Monday evening when the repair guy finally arrived.

If it happened again today I would head for the lake and leave the little window unit running.
