Right or wrong, no matter the whos, whys and wherefores, and no matter our personal opinions, the majority of the vast number of American men and women who were called to serve during the Viet Nam War showed up to serve. No matter their personal feelings, they served, they did not turn their backs. That is my point, not whether it was right or wrong and no matter their race, their socio-economic status, nor their political beliefs, they still served. I, too, lost both family and close friends.

Cheney, and the children of the wealthy got college deferments.

Why would a Black dude in the south enlist in the 1950’s, who could not even vote or eat at certain restaurants fight your wars⁉️

I have great respect for the people who served

But is one more thing that disgusts me about Washington DC and the people who profit off of war

They drafted a lot of us. I volunteered.

But that was a while after Nixon(R) got us out of the Democrats' blunder.

I have respect for anyone who served honorably however they were inducted. I have little respect for politicians who, like Truman(D) or McNamara(D), don't think the strategic picture through and get thousands of Americans killed with little to gain.

Well, first off, let's stick to the 60's and the Viet Nam War. 300,000 Black's served, a large percentage of them in combat. I suppose many of them were determined not to be held down and/or held back from succeeding in life, in spite of the circumstances of the times. Here are three of them. I salute them and applaud them and every single one of the 300,000 who did serve with honor and courage...many of them sacrificing all as well.
