There are 350 to 500 million in the US. They make 2-3 broods a year. You want it like Mexico where they wipe out crops?

12 was the limit for quail too in Arizona

It was easy to go over. Hunting quail is like hunting pheasant. They scare the shit out of you as you approach them when they suddenly take off and you have to fire quick. Their coveys frequently had more than twelve and one shot would exceed the limit. We always respected the limit laws, but when we went over, we did not leave any behind. There were no game wardens around in the Arizona desert to be found.

I've hunted bobwhite quail with and without a dog. I hunted dove with a Dr. who started baiting his field in June (highly illegal). 3 of us killed 350 in one day. The other two didn't eat them. Helped me clean all of them. Good times.
