You should work you ass off to become debt free as soon as possible. Those are personal decisions and require sacrificing the WANTS in life for future freedom and success. The wants come later easily if you do this early. This should be taught in high school along with saving and investing.

I can agree with you on that point.

Also, I would add: Eat healthy foods,
exercise regularly, and edit certain
genes on some of the chromosome
inherited by circumstance.

I have more debt 5 years into retirement than I ever had before...

...but I have planned for retirement with buffers for market cycles and I should have no problem paying the payments. I also carry no high-interest debt such as credit card debt or other non-secured debt. My investments are outperforming my interest rates by far.
