...I know a guy who does live in an older mobile home on a few acres of land. It is in good shape and he has done a lot of work on it. He drives a pickup he bought new last year. Everything he owns is either paid for or the payments are low. He worries about nothing. He can quit any time and live on social security, retirement and his savings without missing a beat. He says that living below his means is the secret to his happiness. He doesn't do without anything that is important to him and he does not worry about much.

I spent my whole life living below my means. I never desired nor cared about keeping up with the Jone's. I remember when the housing crash hit in 2008, The people with the big houses and toys in the garage were the first to lose. They had it all, including payments for everything. I was debt free by age 50 and stayed that way.
