This new coil in the attic has a 10 year parts and labor warranty.

I had cousins in the AC business. They charged extra for attic units...

...They had a big old water-cooled blower with a long tube attached to blow cool air into those attics when they went up there. They absolutely hated some of the builders in the Dallas area. Replacing an attic unit often meant carpentry work to get the new unit in.

These 2 guys were soaking wet after all was said and done. I believe the warranty after the 10 years is another 5 years parts only. I'm sure I'll no longer inhabit earth when that rolls around.

...it developed a leak and had to be repaired and totally recharged. It cost $2100. The next year a part went out in the heater that wound up costing $2300 and kept the unit out of service for 3 months starting in late December because it was COVID time and they could not get the part. We heated the house with a set of unvented gas logs in the fireplace - really a Dearborn-style heater made to look like logs. We have a tall ceiling in the living room. You could turn the logs on for 30 minutes and then turn on the ceiling fan and it felt like the central heat was running as it blew hot air throughout the house.
