Fair Question Ian.
And you have it about right Roger. The story appeared at the other place where Neil and Garry came up with the usual negativity before it spiralled off in to discussing vintage radio sets.
Now I await the rantings of Hagger The Horrible.
So, a couple of years back I was speaking with a lady at the Grimsby Telegraph. She said that the Ross Revenge was significant to the area and that she would like to help us raise funds for repairs at the appropriate time which would be when we had the ship charity all set up.
Two years and thousands of e mails later I lost the contact details. So I mailed the Grimsby Telegraph to start all over. They contacted me the very next day. But when I said that I was still not 100% ready to go a different lady said that her Editor insisted she write an article at once.
So we had little choice other than to swing in to action. We were promised a follow up article when we have Gift Aid and Crowd Funding in place.
As Roger says, Grimsby ship, Grimsby newspaper, it is all going to be about Grimsby and why not. Ross Tiger is not a sister ship, she is half the size of the Ross, but she is landlocked at the fishing heritage centre. In Grimsby of course.
I mentioned the rivalry between Hull and Grimsby and Hull of course has the Arctic Corsair which is about the size of the Revenge. Hull say that she is the last of her kind, but that is not correct. Again, the Corsair will be forever on dry display while Revenge still floats (please God !). The Hull aspect never made it in to print.
The more money we can raise by our own efforts, the more likely we are to attract lottery or heritage or industry funding. Thus far we have £45.464.
In the event that ?? we end up dry docked for repair in Hull, it would be foolish and disrespectful not to look in on Grimsby when we depart. But the article does state that our ambition is to travel around the country.
That's about the long and the short of it. Today's news is tomorrow's chip wrapping paper.
PMm
Following a newspaper report, there is much speculation and "will she, wont she" regarding the Ross returning to her Grimsby home.
Perhaps PM could give us the facts?
