But just like the Lib Dems and the Greens and for the moment Reform, DTR can set out the most radical manifesto knowing for sure that he will never have to deliver.
He may want to consider that when Radio 2 swept away the dead wood of Ken Bruce and brought in the new broom of Vernon Kay, they dropped 1.3 million listeners, some of who followed Ken to his new station.
Our much smaller success story is that when Ray Clark ditched the BBC for Caroline on a Sunday, our figures went up.
DTR suggests that he would get all new presenters and pay them. I estimate that his wage bill would be £225.000 per annum or more. Where is his budget ?
Of course with such a radical change to the music policy as he suggests, all the people who presently donate to Caroline as they identify with it, would stop paying and he would have no income.

But it is not worth chewing ovr every part of his proposal. He knows and we all know that there is nil chance of it coming to pass. Rather like the time that Neal Gates said ' give me £30.000 and I will create a new offshore station '.
