The company's Panamanian owner, was operated from Honduras (almost next door) which is why the ship was registered in Puerto Cortez. It neatly doubled up the 'veil or secrecy'. The money came from the original Yorkshire shareholders, whose funds in Ellambar Investments (named after the building in Scarborough) was loaned to Progressive Company Commercial, with the ship owned by a separate company Marmado Cia Naviera SA in Honduras.
