No Freddie, you are mistaken on two fronts.
Roger chose to leave, he has left and that is how it stays.
Next, how has he been an offshore radio hero for many years ? He was, so far as I recall, with Caroline for about six months at the most ending in 1968 or 56 years ago. Then with RNI briefly, maybe 50 years ago or longer.
Since then he has moved around the commercial radio industry as have so many others and the fact of him being a 'rebel 'is only since he says he is. What can you say that he has done which is rebellious ?
De-Lux radio is not worth commenting on but Boom is ideal for him, right audience, right music and he gats a wage which I could not provide.
So good luck to the man.
PM.
A shame, as Roger has been an offshore hero for many years, but I understand the reasoning in this case.
Hopefully it is another case of: "You can check out, but never leave" (Caroline)
Hello,
For 'a few weeks ' better to say from Easter. OK, Ray Clark offered to give one of his talks and to give all the door money to the Revenge Charity. I think he raised £1000 and hoped that he might sell some books.
Roger hoped that he might get top billing on our Easter broadcast but we thought that those who have helped Caroline more recently and extensively, deserved their turn. Roger took up an offer from the Lightship LV18 in Harwich.
When he found that Ray had booked the Electric Palace thetre in that town, he assumed that this had been done maliciously. He accused Ray of ' stitching him up ' and angry e mails flew back and forth. He did walk in to the Ray talk but in view of the above ill feeling he did not get invited up on stage. I know that if you give Roger a microphone it is very hard to make him relinquish it.
Then he quit Caroline.
He has left Caroline Flashback . Now on Boom Radio & Delux Radio
