When does the new Caroline studio open up in Broadcasting House?

Yes Ken - I had to repair the tapes in several places. I don't think Cassettes were really designed to last 40 + years. I had to re-case some, to get them to play at all !
BTW - "Things" are going on at Droitwich tonight & Tues night - which will involve LW R4, Talk sport & BBC5 all being off the air - from just after midnight - for as long as it takes
This is to replace the old splattery 693 Valve RCA TXs, with a 50kw Harris solid state TX - which should then have 693, as clean as 648 is.
Every TX has to be off the air for safety reasons.
The three old RCA valve TXs, are of a virtually identical design, to the Continental 50kw TX, that went down with the Mi Amigo 45 years ago
I'll give you one guess, who is the "Main-man" doing the work at Droitwich - Saving the BBC licence payer a lot of money (The Harris will be far more efficient on power consumption) & for those struggling to hear 648 in the west near Birmingham - a lot less - or no sausage frying noises accompanying Caroline.
It should be a bit warmer there, than Orfordness
