drifting off topic but this signal strength thing was mentioned over there,
I think by far the strongest offshore signals up here ever heard was some of the early days of the ross...night time skywave signals of course at this distance....
but one initial test in particular during a tone only springs to mind as unbelievable signal strength. When it went off it was off for what seemed like ages. I have never really seen this reported anywhere else, I don't think, and looking through old logs, I am not sure I even noted dates and times, or made a recording from it. Which was silly really. It was as though the tx was taken to the limit, one night only and may have been the time they blew the main insulator????? But I can only speculate.
