At that time Colin said that he was "fit and well and very active at 82 (and a quarter!) and feel good for a while yet", which would have made him 88 (and three-quarters) when he died. The pancreatic cancer came on suddenly.
Also in April 2019 Colin wrote that there were "still tapes to transcribe. I’m aware I have to get onto them. Ronan refused to be interviewed by me, after second thoughts. Same with Tony Windsor/Withers."
Chris Edwards has confirmed that Colin sent those tapes to Offshore Echos and Pirate Radio Hall of Fame earlier this year, so they are not lost.
