Now this is where the confusion is. Is she a brahmin because she was born in a Brahmin village/area of the country?? Or because she converted to the Brahmin beliefs?? And yes, Tamil Brahmins are an "ethnoreligious" community of Tamil-speaking Hindu. Interestingly, the Brahmins have "lighter skin color" than the other castes. Kamala's mum is much darker skin than the average Brahmin,...she's a TAMIL ethnically speaking.
