Indeed Rudolph Dunbar was like the "Paul Robeson" of conducting concerts of classical music back in those very difficult times for Black ppl. Now I cannot believe that he was also the "James Baldwin" of classical Music if your suspicion of him being gay was real. LOL!! Rudolph Dunbar was a great man.

Rudolph Dunbar was even more talented & gifted..
Dude conducted all over Europe, including Germany, Poland, Russia etc etc.
Then settled in London for a while and became part of a group of Caribbean intellectuals who spoke out against racism & colonialism which led to the BBC blacklisting him. Those wicked bastards!
I suspect he was also Gay, which contributed to his career being sabotaged.
.. he conducted a "Plantation Orchestra"...Wtf!?
He also spent some time in New York, Harlem to be exact, where he got involved in the Jazz scene. No doubt Dunbar was talented as hell.
