Nice, concise article and video, bro. I'm sitting in Chicago, as we speak -- contacted those guys over at the Defender just recently.

Ha, ha, John Sengstacke was young and firm-skinned in that video. He was probably in his 80s when I met him. Nice, nice find, Maestro.

I think I came across this website during a chance visit to the defender while researching something..
And all these years later i'm still here..

Like Ebony & Jet, in their own way, the Chicago Defender was very very necessary..
Sad that its lost some of its public value.
