Re: Speaking of "Mexico City", Les,..... (Article)
In what large metropolitan area is racism not omnipresent? And the intensity differs slightly from city to city because of historical and cultural factors. It is very complex. However, no one group is innately more racist than another. I recall spending time in Bangkok and Cheng Mai with my African American friends. Having learned the Thai language better than my fellow soldiers, I was appalled at the comments made by Thais about them. I would get angry. Not until i got involved years later helping to organize against our wars in Central America did i realize the correct way to deal with this. Anger and revenge has no place in organizing. Pointing fingers and saying this group is less racist than that group is an ignorant response. Defense against racists, hell yes! I have no problem with that. But we only win against racism by educating the masses. Previous Message Mexico City is not only the capital and largest city of Mexico, but also, and very important, Mexico city is the second-largest metropolitan area in the world. By the way, I never knew that Mexico city is larger than Los Angeles?!! However,....Mexico city is also one racist and wicked city when it comes to Afro-Mexicans. Enjoy the article below. After reading this article you have to be NAIVE not to see why some Mexican immigrants in California act the way they act with AAs.
