About 10 years ago I told this story of Poles in Haiti to a former Polish colleague in Brussels, hahaha, he looked at me as if I was talking crap, he believed I was making this up. I urged him to go look it up on google. LOL!! I think in Poland their soldiers story with Haiti has been
"indefinitely deleted" from the school curriculum. They just don't know about this, and I bet you the Polish diaspora as a whole don't know about it either.

My lord, if you think Nat Turner's rebellion was bad, Dessalines's uprising was even uglier and worse..
Machetes were swinging & chopping like mad - body parts of masters, their wives and children scattered all over the place. Oh, it was a horrible mess!
LOL..but Dessalines spared the lives of the Polish people in Haiti (they showed solidarity with the oppressed), and in his constitution he guaranteed citizenship to any Pole who wished to become a Haitian. I think close to 1000 of the Polish soldiers took advantage of the opportunity.
