I can perfectly understand that poor Mexican lady you have mentioned because those stereotypical depictions of Mexicans, especially those thought to be in the United States illegally, are harsh and demeaning. I know some AAs who tell ppl they are Caribbeans, not Black AMerican. Its just this stigma of belonging to a so called "undesirable" group of ppl. Also there are some Arabs who don't tell ppl that they are Arabs, they would instead say they are Spaniards or Portuguese. Yes, it is sad!!

Self hatred is an all too familiar consequence of racism and colonialism. Somalians are no different than anyone else.

My best friend is married to a Mexican woman, and last week i met her beautiful sister and her husband. They live in an up scale suburb. He changed his Polish last name to Shannon and when she goes to suburban events and meets people, she tells them she is Italian, not Mexican. It's sad.

I ask myself, as a political organizer, how do i get folk to be proud of their heritage? Well, you don't do it by denigration. That never works.

Sure it's sad that some Somalians think this way, and it is equally sad when Palestinians act similarly. But we don't throw that in their faces while they are victims of genocide and nativist's hostility. We stand with them!

It could be that their financial success in Minneapolis caused some jealousy amongst the natives. Apparently all it took for that jealousy to be exposed and explode was a few Somali "fraudsters" in the twin cities to blame the complete 100.000 Somalis.

Still, I am truly disappointed with Trump-supporting Somali immigrants and how they feel betrayed as we speak. And by the same token I've got no respect(and never did) to D.T a so called president calling ppl "garbage" and that he wants them to leave his so called country,..he definitely crossed that line using his presidency as a weapon. He doesn't know what it means to make decisions from the white house, and ppl don't fully understand the weight that comes with that responsibility. Coz when you sit behind that desk in the oval office every word that you speak carries the weight of the entire federal govnment behind it.

And yes, I'm not surprised to find out that "some"(of course there is always "some" which could be many) Somalians in America think black Americans are garbage. Thats why I've pointed out yesterday that the oppressed will NEVER GET IT!!

Needless to say there is indeed an "Arab Supremacy" attitude playing in the Somali psyche. And what even more disturbing is that all the non-white immigrants in America whether they are Catholics, Muslims, Hindus, or non-believers, whether they are Caribbeans, Africans, Arabs, Latinos or Asians they all look down on AAs and praise White Americans at the same time which I found very strange. To them AAs are unworthy of respect and this is outrageous!!! However AAs should not get it twisted, they are garbage too in Trump's eyes, dude couldn't help but erase Black history and fired as many AAs as possible from their glorious positions and send in federal troops to every Chocolate inner city etc etc...
