Yes, they seem like a U.S. group, but they were based in the Netherlands. They were produced by the Dutch — the three singers hail originally from Guyana, so they were native English speakers.

1985 was just such a golden time for pop music. Guess which country the "Mai Thai Band" are from? Amsterdam, Netherlands. And for all these years I thought they were a U.S band. Ha
Used to feel great walking into a nightclub in the 80s and this was blasting out. Everyone on the dance floor. Great memories!!!
