Air Force Captain Ahmad Ghirvanian (often nicknamed "Ghiri" or "Tarface") is identified as the only Black Iranian pilot in the Imperial Iranian Air Force prior to the 1979 revolution. This individual was known as a skilled pilot who flew T-33 aircraft and played volleyball with top military officials.
