and Vance made publicly was a bad idea. I don’t agree that the American people need to see all of the dirty laundry. Words spoken in anger are frequently unwise and need at least to be walked back before further progress can be made. That is difficult enough on a more private level, but publicly almost impossible. Putin must be thrilled.
