His greatest influence on me was his love of family, strong work ethics and honesty. He was very frugal with money, a reflection from growing up during the depression I suppose. He had an eight grade education. He worked three jobs to help his parents, raising 8 kids during those years of economic calamity. They lived on a farm in central Michigan. Unfortunately, my siblings never grasped his greatness and that is sad because their lives wouldn’t be so miserable now! Dad didn’t tolerate dissension, hence, stopped paying tuition for one sister who decided to protest ROTC in the late 60’s. He didn’t care that she protested, he just wasn’t going to pay for her to protest while she attended university, rather should have been studying! Well…I’m getting off track.
