My mom never smoked but fought COPD for many years before she died.
The only smoking my wife and I did was breathing secondhand smoke. We both grew up with smokers. She was a very accomplished bowler back when smoking was legal in most bowling centers and a high percentage of bowlers smoked. We would spend 8 or 10 hours in a smoke-filled building 2 times a month and bowl a couple of nights every week in a smoke-filled building.
I guess we really quit breathing smoke on a regular basis when we were in our mid-50's. I suspect that will affect our health someday.
