Our neighbour was told that the farmers are meant to keep all drains clear and are supposed to avoid the lane edges, I bit of a problem for the farmers as their tractors and other machinery are sometimes wider than the actual lane hence erosion. The mentality of the people who came to sort out the flooding was unbelievable, the did clear the ditches but instead of removing what they dug out they piled it up alongside the ditches, as predicted the farm machinery drove over the piles of dirt etc and immediately the majority of what had been removed from the ditches was deposited back in.
Anyway, at present we are awaiting the arrival of Balfour Beattie to repair the lane, a waste of money as more rain will then remove the filling used to repair the potholes and we are back to square one, a complete resurface is needed but I doubt we will get one. By the way we share the lane with 7 dwellings and 3 farms.
