The Ukraine was part of Russia until 1991. Zelensky should not have kept trying to join NATO. Even the Americans knew Putin would not allow NATO on his door step. For some us in 1960/61. Kennedy would not allow Russian Nuclear Missiles in Cuba. It was another WW3 fear, but Krushcev backed down.
