Norman, near the end of WW2, Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt, had a meeting at Yalta. They agreed what would happen after the war. Some said it was carving up Europe . People were desperate to move from the areas Stalin was taking. It was in 1946 Churchill made his speech about an iron curtain coming down dividing east and west. The communists are back in power. I won’t bore you with the horrors that it caused, but it was at that time that a ship with hundreds of Jewish people on board sailed to Palestine, the beginning of the fight to establish Isreal.
