I was born in the Quay in 1940 went to the Quay Board school then on to Clegwell from there l served my time in the yards came out of my apprenticeship 1961 then emigrated to Australia came back to the UK late Sixties then moved to
Yorkshire coach building laid off in 1980. (Maggie Thatcher had a lot to do with that)l got a job at RAF STAXTON WOLD RADAR STATION FOR 3 months as l was a member of the civil service l was forced to retire at the age of 60 at that time l had 20 years service s to attain my state pension l hadto work for myself till l reached my retireing age.
At the time l was there l used to flit quite a lot to Alemain barracks in DRIFFIELD on the wold some ten miles from the station to the married quarters also RAF Leconfield 22 squadron.over the years l got to know quite a lot of service and cirvillian personall.l think I of all the job l ever had this one was the best for me.i just wonder if the board members who have mentioned Driffield on this post where they had connections of
Driffield barracks l more than likely might have known there family connections during My time 1980 -2000
