Nice to read about another local hero from WW2 Norman.
We were given one of the new council houses in Wlikinson Avenue. (Only four houses). We were told the name was from a Labour MP called Helen Wilkinson. Seeing that Hebburn was usually a Labour council, perhaps that was correct, but it could be wrong.
