I think Charlie changed over to cars after his arm was caught on a drilling machine and injured his arm, he worked in Reyrolle’s Drillers and Grinders shop.

As a result of his injury he became a clerk and worked night shifts as better money. That’s when I met Ann and remember him going off to work in the evening.

I have a photo of him and workmates taken in that shop so maybe should post it. Someone father etc. could be on it.
