M friend and I spent every Saturday night at the Oxford, from 1957/58 to approximately 1963. We saw the end of the George Evan’s band and the first night with Don Smith. I remember an coloured singer really lovely called Marion Williams but not sure if it with George Evan’s or Don Smith. even had had our own lady taking out coats “Anne”. Second from the end a long counter for depositing your cost. We never visited Jessie Ives, my Friends older sister took us to the Oxford and we were hooked. We were teenagers but thought we were so sophisticated😀 such happy memories.
