It goes beyond stupid.....
The 2 ferries built on the Clyde: Should have cost £97 million.... now FOUR times that, and YEARS late.
One came into service in January, and been in for repair THREE times, we're still waiting for the second one!
It gets even better; the route the were to serve: Ardrossan (west coast, near me) to Broddick on the Isle of Arran..... it's TOO BIG to fit the dock at Ardrossan...... so has to travel down the coast to Troon, so further to travel, more time, so fewer sailings...... great !!
And.....there's more! These ferries are supposed to be green, dual fuel (i.e diesel AND gas)
But the gas is trucked from somewhere in Europe, arrives at the Isle of Dogs (near London) then trucked to the dock at Troon, where there is NO storage facilty (someone forgot to build storage tanks!!) so they have to replenish the gas direct from the tanker to the ferry, which takes over 2 HOURS...... but the ferries only dock, typically, for less than an hour....
Whichever idiot ever thought that this was either green, or clever, wants sacking....
And we're still desperately waiting for the new Turkish ferries, which are all on schedule, and within cost, to arrive, as the massively aging fleet we currently have are continually braking down.....
