Went North through there yesterday. Long delay due to traffic, however there may have been an accident that was clearing up as a tow truck with a car loaded just leaving.

One the old section reached good traffic flow.

Why is it taking so long to finish that new section?

The A1(M) plenty roadworks to delay you, barriers being replace etc.
