I cant remember when the Slag Heap finally disappeared Sheila.
In the late 50s I was talking to one of the men who worked on it & he said it will be another 70 yrs before its removed.That estimate was 'miles out'as it was gone much quicker.
PS My son Simon said in the 80s it was mostly gone.
