Recently I lost a dear friend, another friend of ours has been clearing out our late friend’s house, whilst clearing out the cupboards our friend found loads of tins, jars etc of food all still in date which she was advised would be accepted at a Tesco store near to where she lived, I have to say the area is quite an affluent place.

My friend was horrified to find a couple of elderly people hovering by the food bank, they had bags with them, I wouldn’t say they were begging but, they were most grateful to receive whatever was offered to them, saying that they were finding times extremely hard with the continued rise in the cost of living.

Why in this day and age are our elderly reduced to this when we provide, most generously, to all and sundry who rock up on our shores, surely our own people should, at the very least, be given the same as these ‘new comers’ are offered, this situation really can’t be allowed to carry on.
