When I was young in the early 50s, the 'Powerhouse' Club was the place to be. As you can see on the photo it really was a little Power Station originally & when it closed down, local out of work people asked if a building or two could be allowed to be left so it could be used as a Club. They were granted their wish & skilled out of work locals created a brilliant club for young folk. People from all around the area became members of this new club, aptly named 'The Powerhouse' Happy days but all gone now.
